NEWSLETTER SUMMER 2022
pascal@taraindia.org
Dear well-wishers,

We hope that this summer newsletter will bring you as much joy as we had in writing it.

In between the launch of essential new programs at TARA Outreach Centre, the success of " The Undefeated series", and the development of the older children at TARA. The good news show us that TARA is growing and continues to have a positive impact on the children lives. Moreover, some of the articles (in their original version in English) were written by two TARA Girls, Kamal and Noorjahan.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for believing in the children of TARA and for continuing to support them.

Good reading !

French writers at TARA Boys and TARA Tots

Christine Jordi et son Mari à TARA tots

Thanks to the French Institute in India (IFI), we recently had the honour and joy of welcoming famous French authors at TARA.
François-Henri Désérable (who won the Grand Prix du Roman de l’Académie Française in 2021) and Patricia Loison (journalist and writer) both shared their amazing journeys with the children at TARA Boys.

At TARA Tots, the children drew and discussed with Christine Jordis (another famous French writer and journalist) and her husband. Beautiful and inspiring meetings for the children !
A Trip to Manali, a breath of fresh air
In June, a group of older children of TARA Girls and TARA Boys, spent a few days  in the mountains, near Manali in the State of Himachal Pradesh, with the supervision of the staff from TARA.
It was a welcome breath of fresh air for the children who hadn't been out of Delhi for a long time. They were able to escape the heat of the city, with joy.
They went there to participate in an environmental awareness program run by a local NGO and they participated in a waste collection campaign. After that, they went on a hike and were able to admire the snow-capped peaks.
For some of them, it was the very first time they had seen snow !  An enchantement !
Two new programs for the TARA Outreach Centre
pascal@taraindia.org
This summer, TARA Outreach Centre is launching a health program and an empowerment program for girls.
Kamal and Noorjahan, our two trainee reporters from TARA Girls, are currently reporting on the new programs. Follow us on social media to discover their article very soon.
Les garçons de TARA Big Birds

Towards independence

Children grow up fast. In June, four of our TARA Boys, who are now eighteen years old, shifted to our program for Young Adults: TARA Big Birds.

Our budding journalists, Kamal and Noorjahan from TARA Girls, met one of them, Lokesh. In this interview, he shares his first impressions on TARA Big Birds and tells us about his dreams for his future. To read the interview, click here.

Education matters!

We would like to congratulate Noorjahan and Sikander for their excellent results in their end-of-year exams of 10th grade! (In India, at the end of 10th grade, students must take an important exam, the results of which will affect the academic courses they will be able to join in their further education).

Noorjahan averaged 77 % and Sikander 86 %. We are very proud of them !

All the other children's school results will soon be available on Donor space.

The undefeated, acclaimed in France

The 2nd French Tour of The Undefeated took place at the end of May/beginning of June. It was really well received in Paris, Roubaix, Lille, Nantes and Toulouse.

A huge Thank You to all the people who came and to the venues that made these events possible.. The films were screened in the presence of Caroline Basanti and Anne-Elvire who were there to discuss and then answer questions.

Thanks to these events, we succeed in reaching people who did not previously know about TARA. They told us how moved they were when they discovered our story through these movies. Some are even in the process of becoming sponsors !

We want to organize a series of screenings in India, Delhi and other cities in the fall. There
are also plans for screenings in London next spring. If you have ideas of places that could
host a TARA event, send us an email: anne-elvire@taraindia.org.

Here is an exclusive of the 15 films in the series:

Help us to continue our programs
and offer a bright future to vulnerable children.
